Settlement between Fatimah Nisa’ and Muhammad Hashim, 1901
Settlement, dated October 29, 1901, between Fatimah Nisa’, daughter of the late Baba Khan from Khuzan, and Muhammad Hashim, son of the late Haji ‘Abd Allah, exchanging some properties in Shams Abad for forty tumans. Fatimah Nisa’ then waived all of her rights for four tumans and some wheat. On verso: on April 4, 1921, ‘Abd Allah, son of the late Muhammad Hashim, settled this property with his uncle, Haj Asad Allah, to pay the costs of ta‘ziyah for the late Muhammad Hashim.

Letters from Galin Khanum to Qahraman Mirza ‘Ayn al-Saltanah
Three Letters from Galin Khanum to her husband, Qahraman Mirza ‘Ayn al-Saltanah, in which she talks about how she misses her husband, describes the mournings of Muharram, and discusses the quarrels between Sharif al-Dawlah and his wife. In one of the letters, she complains about not receiving her living expenses and that she is being neglected by her husband.

Settlement of Layli with Mirza Muhammad ʻAli, 1920
Settlement between Layli, the daughter of Muhammad Vali Bayg, and Mirza Muhammad ʻAli, in which she settles all of her belongings--clothes, dishes, cash and bonds, properties, and household furnishings--for some salt and pennies in order for Mirza Muhammad ʻAli to spend 11 tumans for taʻziyah and 10 tumans for prayers [to be said for her] after her death. After payment of the religious tithe, he should spend the rest on taʻziyah for Imam Husayn.

Settlement between Baygum, Mirza Muhammad, and Mashhadi Asad Allah, 1911
After Nayib Ibrahim, son of Haji Muhammad Baqir from Khuzan, died without leaving a will, there was a problem handling the related ceremonies. So, Baygum, daughter of Nayib Ibrahim, transferred ninety tumans to Mirza Muhammad, son of the late Haji ‘Abd Allah, and his son, Mashhadi Asad Allah, in exchange for one hundred dinars and some wheat. The condition was that they spend this money, with approval of Karbalayi Yad Allah, son of the late Karbalayi Husayn, for ta‘ziyah and other ceremonies.

Settlement between daughter of Mirza ‘Arab‘ali and her son, 1870
Settlement between the daughter of Mirza ‘Arab‘ali and her older son, Haj Mirza Sayyid Husayn, over a property for thirty tumans, with the condition that Mirza Sayyid Husayn, with the supervision of his brother (Mirza Muhammad ‘Ali) and sister, pay for taʻziyah expenses after their mother’s death.

‘Ali Akbar's will, 1892
Two copies of the will, one written on the letterhead of the Ministry of Justice. ‘Ali Akbar, the son of Haji Muhammad Ganjah, a Russian national, assigns his brothers, Mashhadi Haj Baba and Mashhadi Najaf, as the executors of his will. His inheritors are his children, Javad (age 14), Zayn al-‘Abidin (age 4), Khadijah (age 7), and Zahra (age 1), and his wife Shikar Khanum the daughter of Haji Allahyar Ganjah. Since their father's death, the interest from part of the inheritance has been spent on charity on behalf of their father; ‘Ali Akbar wants this tradition to continue after his own...

Mashhadi Habib's will, 1921
Mashhadi Habib, the son of the late Husayn ‘Amu, appoints his younger brother, Ni‘mat, as the executor of his will and Karbalayi ‘Askar, the son of ‘Ali Pasha, as the overseer while he [Mashhadi Habib] travels to Karbalaʼ. They are responsible for giving ten mans [unit of area] of his share of a garden to his wife, Munavvar, as her mahr. A third of his belongings should be in Ni‘mat's hands for use on khums, the payment of his debts, ta‘ziyah, and charity.

Settlement and will, 1904 and 1905
On one side is the settlement dated August 21, 1904 between Karbalayi Kazim, son of the late Mirza [illegible] from Lahijan, and Haj Ramazan, son of Mashhadi Mulla Baba from Dumuchal [Dumchal], over connected and seperate pieces of land in Dumuchal [Dumchal] village, which Karbalayi Kazim inherited from his mother and his brother, for four hundred twenty-five tumans and five thousand dinars. Settlement between Nisa’ Baygum Jan, daughter of the late Fath‘ali, and her four great great-granddaughters, Mah Sultan, Fatimah, Gawhar (daughters of Lutf‘ali), and Khanum (daughter of Nasr Allah), exchanging one-third of a building for one hundred dinars and some wheat. She also settled one-twelfth of the same building with Nayib Muhammad Ibrahim, son of Haji Muhammad Baqir, and Mirza Muhammad, son of Haji ‘Abd Allah, in exchange for one hundred dinars and some wheat, on the condition that they spend five tumans of the monetary value of the property on the Mulla Muhsin mosque and the rest...

Umm Salmah's endowment, 1794
Endowment for a garden, known as Bagh Zangi, in Abarqu village, near Yazd, and three sixths of a house and its possessions, by Umm Salmah Khanum, the daughter of Haj Muhammad ʻAli Mirza Khan Yazdi. After the property was rented out, the caretaker was to spend three tumans buying bread and raisins for the poor on the Ghadir feast, another three tumans on giving bread, dates, and raisins to the poor during fast-breaking in the month of Ramadan.
